Our role as a carer can be challenging and evoke difficult emotions.  While the demands of caring are persistent, the way in which we can respond to these challenges can change

To help make this change it is beneficial to know a little about how the brain works and how we, as humans, respond to stress events.

This course has been developed by Lifeline Australia in conjunction with Carers NSW to help you better understand why you may be responding to stress in the way that you are, and to provide you with strategies to help manage difficult emotions as they arise.

For the best learning experience, view this course in Google Chrome. This course should take approximately 60 minutes. It is recommended that you complete the module in one sitting. Your progress will be saved so you can close the window and complete the module at a later date.

* This course has content that addresses mental illness. Please ensure you take a break if required.

Carers NSW in partnership with Mirri Mirri have developed the ‘Walking Together: Providing choice in disability services for Aboriginal communities’ project.

The project aims to increase access for Aboriginal people with disability and their families/carers to mainstream disability services by:

•     Developing the cultural competency of service providers to engage and provide support to Aboriginal people with disability and their families and carers

•     Developing the cultural safety of service organisations, and

•     Developing the capacity for mainstream service organisations to become an employer of choice.
