Course Image Setting up a carer support group

A carer support group is a group of carers who come together – either in person, on the phone or through the internet – to discuss their caring situation, socialise, share information and offer each other support.

This module addresses common issues and considerations for new facilitators in setting up a new support group for any individual who provides care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, drug and/or alcohol dependency, chronic condition, terminal illness or who is frail.

Promoting a carer support group is one of the many challenges for new and existing carer support groups.

This topic will discuss the challenges and tasks in promoting a carer support group.
